2005 Miller Anti-roll Suspended Dragster
This car was ordered in the fall of 2004 for delivery in January of 2005. Miller Race Cars in Florida built
the car. This car was chosen because of its suspension. In our travels down south, we saw a lot of these cars
being driven by racers that could have their choice of any car on the market. They chose the Miller dragster because
they worked the best under all conditions. This car was going to permit us to go as fast as we wanted to go without
the chassis being the limiting factor. I purchased the rolling chassis without plumbing or wiring prefering to do it
myself. The car was finished and ready to race the spring of 2005. The 596 had been removed from the old dragster
and was freshened and ready to go with a brand new Hogan's sheet metal tunnel ram with twin dominators and a NOS Pro Fogger
System. Our first outing was a trip to Earlville to sort out the new car. The first all out pass on motor alone,
the car ran 7.69 at 178 MPH with some awesome April cold air. The car handled perfectly and we had no problems. That
summer, we started working with the nitrous. Problems, Problems, Problems. Between blowing head gaskets and other
nickel dime problems, we did get the car to run some 7.20's on a small nitrous tuneup spraying for a few seconds.
The car was never a problem. It went straight, launched hard, and worked great. The motor was freshened for 2006
and off we went again. The car set several all time bests including a 7.09 at the MOPAR Nationals and a 194 MPH pass
at Brainerd. Problems began again with the final problem turning out to be a crack in the #1 cylinder wall.
The 596 had to come out and the old venerable 493 went back into duty to finish the season. As we get ready to begin
2007, the 596 is ready to go once again. The motor dynoed an honest 1000 HP with 850 lb/ft of torque on motor alone.
If we can keep it all together, 2007 will net the first 6.90 pass at over 200 MPH. It will definitely be exciting.
